Meet... Thomas Paine

~His round head is made from stained, baked, painted and sanded cotton.

~His jointed body is made from hardwood.

~This patriot wears a burgundy double breasted broadcloth jacket (lined in maroon broadcloth) with seed bead buttons.

~His ruffled shirt, cuffs and knickers are cotton.

~He is approx. 11" high, 8" high in the seated position.

~Artist pencils were used for his worn but hopeful eyes.

~He has a needle sculpted nose, eyebrows and wee mouth.

~His hair is needle felted soft sheep's wool and is tied in a queue with a cotton ribbon.

His Flag...

~His "Common Sense" flag represents the plain language pamphlet he wrote for common people of America. It was the first work to openly ask for independence from Great Britain.

~It's printed on osnaburg and is attached to a pole made from a wooden dowel and clay.

~It is 10" high and has an antique barn sidin' base. ~His stained hangtag reads "Tom."
